JDM CARS RULE! If you’re comfortable driving Right Hand Drive cars and you love cars from the late 60’s early 70’s, I encourage you to try out a Z432, Skyline GTR, Skyline GTX or 240ZG. The 2.0 liter cars in particular (Z432 and GTR) are just wonderful. Great blend of balance and "muscley" power in a lightweight Japanese car. I don’t think I will ever go without one of these great cars in my collection. Better to drive than an E-type, more grunt and muscle than a 911, I would compare these cars to Aston DB4’s through DB6’s and Maserati Ghibli’s in performance, but with a cool spartan interior and a sound like nothing else I’ve driven. We took the 1972 Nissan Skyline GTX and 1970 Nissan Skyline GTR out for some fun and pics the other day. Click the links above and enjoy!
I’ve spent this week in Germany at the Essen Techno Classica - (probably my favorite car event of the year!) At the end of March every year, vintage car junkies from all over the world make their way to this event. Manufacturers, independent dealers and collectors display their cars for sale and for show. It’s a unique opportunity to see a large number of rare and beautiful cars all in one place.
THEY’RE HERE!!! After a very long wait, our JDM super cars have arrived this week. It’s near impossible to find these cars and get them out of Japan, but our cars were sought out, inspected and purchased in Japan by a close friend and JDM expert. Now we’ve suceeded in putting together one of the best JDM collections in the country. I only wanted the best of the best. This group includes:
- an incredibly original and early Z432
- a beautifully restored iconic orange Z432
- a stunning 1970 Skyline GT-R 4-door
- the HOLY GRAIL of JDM cars … a real-deal 1971 Skyline GT-R “Hakosuka” 2 dr
- a killer 240ZG or "G-NOSE”
- a super cool and JDM Master-restored 72 Skyline GT-X Coupe

The JDM cars have arrived from Japan and we’re expecting delivery any day now. PICS TO FOLLOW!
Bye Bye Beetle - Our stunning 55 VW Beetle Convertible sold at the RM auction at Amelia Island on Saturday for $82,500 (incl buyers premium). It was a bittersweet moment; we will miss that beautiful car being around, but knowing that it’s going to someone who’ll appreciate it's class and quality makes it easier to say goodbye.
OK… in the paragraph below, I asked “is there anything cooler or more fun to drive than an Austin Cooper S?”… well it didn’t take long, but I’ve realized, yes there is! How about a 1967 Porsche 911S. SWB 1960’S 911S… HEAVEN ON WHEELS!
Enjoy these pics and contact Ken ASAP if you want to buy this beauty. You can call +1 828 654-322 or email Ken@WeLoveCoolCars.com
Also new to inventory: Is there anything cooler or more fun to drive than a classic Austin Cooper S?
This little beauty is in excellent condition and sports a killer, original color. If you’re interested, you can call Ken today +1 828 674-6155. This one probably won’t be around for very long. (Now consigned to the Greenwich CT Bonhams sale in June.)
Our incredible Miura S sells at Artcurial Retromobile for €806,720 (inc fees) approximately $1,095,000! - Original cars are bringing very strong prices all over the world and this was the most original Miura S any of us had seen. The Miura was driven onto the stage by legendary Lamborghini Test Driver Valentino Balboni and the original owner was in attendance. What a great occasion, what a wonderful car and I’m happy to say that this beauty is on her way to a new home here in the States. Here’s a video of the auction.
The Carolinas Region of the Porsche Club of America also LOVES COOL CARS! - We had a great time and a great turnout on Saturday morning when the PCA visited our facility to check out our cool cars. I’d like to thank everyone who came out.
(Call Ken today, these cars won't last long +1 828-654-3222)

Paris and Retromobile Next week - Our all-original Miura S is up for auction at Artcurial in Paris next week. It will be interesting to take the pulse of the European market. I’m expecting it will be very much the same as here, bouyant and hungry for good cars, with original cars bringing a premium.
Our F40 has sold well and sold quickly. We have another Lamborghini Miura S coming out of service very soon, which will be available for sale here in the US. Additional new inventory includes a 74 Pantera that just came in trade and a killer 58 Ferrari 250GT Ellena which I have for sale in Germany. Call Ken for details +1 828 654-3222.
The Phoenix/Scottsdale auctions were great fun this year. Wonderful cars, strong prices and a healthy attitude amongst everyone out there. The market continues to roll on, with good cars bringing good prices. “ORIGINALITY” and “PRESERVATION” cars were the toast of the auctions, with some extraordinary results. The $178,750 Mercedes 280SE 3.5 Coupe makes mine look like a steal and that black Gullwing, which brought restored Gullwing money, was a another strong showing. I bought several cars for the permanent collection, including a 6,000 mile 1973 Lotus Elan Sprint Coupe, a Mercedes 280SE Cab, an Aston Martin V8 Volante and a Maserati Bora 4.9.
Just in… is this very rare 2013 Range Rover Evoque Special Edition. 1 of only 5 delivered to the US! This thing isn’t just cosmetically appealing, this thing is an animal! It has a "stealth-like appearance" with matte gray color scheme, glossy black roof and trim, with 20-inch wheels exclusive to this special edition. There also is an abundance of rose-gold accents, painted on the wheel and plated just about everywhere else, inside and out. Pics and info soon.
Do you love F40s? This one’s a beauty. I bought this car several years ago from a prominent collection and now it’s time for a new home. I’ve bought and sold several F40s and this is easily one of the very best that I’ve seen. It is in exquisite condition, just 3,000 miles and has obviously lived a pampered life. (SOLD!)
JUST BACK FROM TOKYO!!!! I’ve been in Japan buying more JDM cars and having the time of my life driving a Z432 on the quiet Sunday streets of Tokyo. That was A BLAST, right up there with the time that I drove our 959 on the Autobahn.
In inventory, we have these two super-cool GTC/4’s, a 74 Pantera, a blue Miura S (due back from service soon), the gold Ghibli 4.9SS Coupe, two pre-war Mercedes Sedans, a turbo Porsche, Jag XK140 Coupe and more...
Home from New York and the RM Sotheby’s auction. The “Art of the Automobile” concept was a very cool one and the results show that we’re still in a strong market which continues to strengthen. Sitting in the garage and waiting for my return were our new Maserati Ghibli 4.9SS coupe and Red/Black 1971 Ferrari 365 GTC/4. Weather hasn’t permitted my usual pics, but here’s a taste of just how nice this Maserati is. The Ferrari is it’s equal, if not better, with pics coming ASAP. Here are some auction pics too.
Certainly one of the best-driving early 70’s European Coupes and they look SO COOL! I’m looking forward to putting a few miles on this beauty. It’s going to be a tough call though, whether to jump into this or the Ferrari 365GTC/4, when I want to tour through the mountains.
You can call Ken for more info +1 828 654-3222
Waiting for me when I came back from my latest European adventure, (tracking down the best and most beautiful cars in the world, then trying to buy them), was this spectacular Enzo and stunning 1957 Mercedes 300SL Roadster. The Enzo is already SOLD!, the 300SL won’t be for sale.
Had a wonderful week in the UK, including a great time at Salon Prive (thanks Andrew and David, Peter and Mary), where our spectacular 1936 Mercedes Benz 540K Cabriolet A Sport took home 2nd in it's class.
I also enjoyed the splendor of St James' Palace for a Concours event with my son Matthew, and finally on to London, where I fell in love and bought two killer pre-war Mercedes to bring back to North Carolina.
The red one is a rare 6-cyllinder 1935 170 Sedan that has a matching trailer and the black one is a 1939 170V Cabriolet. These cars will arrive soon and will be available for purchase. Both are EXCELLENT, completely restored cars in fine running condition.
Finished my trip with the best curry of my life at Tamarind in London W1 (thanks for that recommendation Ekaterina).
Back from a successful week at Pebble Beach and Monterey. We added four new cars to the permanent collection; a 72 Porsche 911S Targa, a Maserati Ghibli 4.9SS Coupe, an Aston Martin DB4 and an Aston Martin DBS. On my way home, I stopped in San Francisco and bought a stunning late-build 1970 Lamborghini Miura S with factory A/C and SV Spec ventilated brakes, which will be coming back to Asheville for sale.
I'm pretty excited about the Citroen 2CV that's on it's way. "WHAT, " (I hear you guys screaming) "is cool about a Citroen 2CV?" Well, it's no ordinary 2CV. It's a 2CV Sahara. Never heard of a Sahara? Well, check out this video and be AMAZED!
I've just returned from a successful trip to Tokyo where I picked up this STUNNING ENZO for the permanent collection.
Easily the best-looking Enzo I've seen, in showroom condition, just 497 kilometers, Ferrari Classiche Certified and a drop dead Red interior.
I also had the opportunity to view several JDM car collections, (Too much fun! I think there's a teenage "tuner" hidden underneath this European Connoisseur's visage).
